Well I managed to shoot the corporate job OK........ but Miami is totally freezing......... like totally........
So the dream of Florida ...... the dream of Miami turned out to be...... just that....... a dream...... oh and the River Palace Hotel right next to the Hyatt....... its more of a nightmare than a dream .......... it has no heating and it is literally freezing...... (and has no wifi)......... virtually none of the buildings or restaurants in Miami are warm enough ......... basically they are all designed to be open to the outside and to need air con........ so everywhere is now completely freezing..... there was ice outside and I am staying in a hotel with no heating........ Yeah I kid you not....... Its was like camping out in winter........ I had to use the hair dryer and the iron to heat up the room......... it was all a bit of a downer....... and at the close of day as i walked across the wind swept and ice cold sands I was pretty depressed...... not to mention seriously cold....and feeling a bit ripped off by circumstance......... then suddenly I was filled with total awe looking at the sky....... Miami has a certain quality of light...... all of its own it seems ...... but this was something I was absolutely not expecting to see in this overcast cold weather....... and yet there it was....... instantly raising my spirits......... It might be freezing cold....... but look at that....... it is still Miami!

PS........ Its late Ive just been out with some designer friends and Matt....... the processing on this image probably needs attention....... but...... hey....... even I have to sleep sometimes......... :-)
Blimey Jez, I take it all back! Atlanta might be warmer (at least indoors!) Great shot though. Does "red sky at night" apply? ;-)

Yeah that was not your usual trip to Miami.....The hotel really was depressing...... :-/....... totally freezing had to wear a wooly hat in bed and have all my coats piled up on the extra blankets....... It reminded me of trips in my dim and distant past to war zones...... where the hotel has been half destroyed by shelling......... which is an odd thing to say of a hotel in downtown Miami........ hehehehe...........
Nightmare. Is this another corporate Jez? Are you travelling light and shooting ambient or lugging boxes full of Elinchroms and softboxes around the planet and lighting everything to shreds? ;-)

It's always a lot of corporate shooting at this time of year .... It's the reporting season :-)...It's a funny mixture of ambient speed with softboxes and all that lighting gear thrown into the mix too... Most of today was ambient but a couple required some lighting rigs... Yesterday was pretty well all lit.... all this stuff has crazy schedules 4 us... I am off 2 Denver Colarado tmrw... Its whaky alright...... we r rolling to a shoot now up in Atlanta...... its cold here too...... way colder than usual..... but they r slightly better set up for it ....... :-))

As Matt was saying ....look all u say to me it the hotel must have a reasonable clean bed a nice shower and wifi ... That's it... So now u r getting all fussy and r starting to say the temperature onthe hotel must be above 0 degrees centigrade..
