I went to the Times+ event at the Paintworks' Event Space in Bristol......... to see the fantastic Sunday Times Magazine 50th Anniversary Exhibition............ I saw it in London if you remember....... it was a phenomenal success at the Saatchi Gallery in London ......... with its run being extended and extended....... now the show is on a regional tour starting here in Bristol ......... The amazing Sarah Baxter was speaking giving some history of the magazine and her perspective as the current Editor of the most prestigious of all the Magazines in Europe........ prestigious for all involved with it ........ but especially I think to us photographers ....... but hey maybe I am a little biased ........ but i definitely think Sarah Baxter is incredible and the Sunday Times Magazine is the most prestigious magazine for photography.... delivering incredible photography in all genres........ and I wasn't alone in this thought at the gallery tonight. It was great to chat to Sunday Times readers who just love the ST Magazine, were enjoying meeting Sarah , and they were all totally awed by the show...........

The Sunday Times Magazine 50th Anniversary Exhibition will be showing at:

-

Paintworks, Bristol from Saturday 24 March to Tuesday 3 April. Entry is free. The exhibition is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 6pm. TODAY IS THE LAST DAY !!!!!!!!!!

Cube, Manchester from Wednesday 11 April to Tuesday 24 April. Entry is free. The exhibition is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 6pm.

Waterhall, Birmingham from Tuesday 22 May to Saturday 2 June. Entry is free. The exhibition is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 6pm.

The exhibition at The Saatchi Gallery attracted around 200,000 visitors and was extended twice due to popular demand. It really is a mega show.

PS....... In this picture I have put up above....... you see on the left a massive duratran of Don McCullin's work from West Bengal........... Showing a woman suffering from Cholera ......... this image is burned into my head from seeing it as a youth ......... McCullin's photography made me aware of the power of photojournalism ........... the importance of the stories photojournalists where telling ......... I used to go to the Central Library as a kid and get down all the Don McCullin books......... through his work I understood some of the history of Vietnam and Lebanon and Bangladesh and the contemporary issues facing their people ............ the human cost of conflict and war........ basically because of Don McCullin's work I am a photojournalist today.
