Today a poet who wrote a poem praising the Arab Spring has been jailed for life in Qatar. On the same day here in Britain Lord Leveson announced that government in Britain should now start interfering in British newspapers. I have to say I find myself with Prime Minister David Cameron who said that was crossing an important rubicon........ and Parliament ....... over the centuries a beacon of freedom........... should really think hard before throwing away 300 years of freedom of the press in Britain ........... I wonder if Leveson will now propose to start a regulation system with statutory underpinning for poets too.
