Its been a day of presentations......... one in the morning............ one big one in the evening.......... I think it went pretty well people seemed generally to enjoy it :-))))) ...........wow I am tired.........

PS....... Sau Paulo has a very big distance between rich and poor ......... and has some tragic scenes of poverty......... this man was just sleeping in the street near the first presentation place...........

Thanks so much Rick....... i enjoyed doing it and meeting all you guyz ....... u all made me feel very welocome...... Sony are doing so well in offering all these events to students for free....... they certainly seem like great things to be involved with to me..... certainly I enjoyed watching my fellow prsenters......i shot this picture above on my Sony NEX so I am even a Sony user too....... :-))))))))) XXXXXX

Talking of Sony, you need to persuade them to give you a Sony RX1, I've been hearing great things about them but they're a touch pricey...

That new RX1 is lovely - The only thing I can't quite understand is why they didn't put a 'proper' shutter speed dial on the top (like the Fuji X100, or the Leica M's)... I mean the lens is in third stop increments - very professional... and then a toy camera mode dial on top - not very professional!

It looks really nice Chein Chi Chang the Magnum dude who was presenting had one with him on loan from Sony Taiwan....... i held it for a second but didnt really get time to register the whole thing.... it feels nice though ....... like a real camera :-))))))))

Hey Harv.! I don't know what it's like in your country, but here in the USA people getting angry at photographers over photographs that make them feel uncomfortable is very common. Just after 9/11 a photo of a "jumper" dubbed "The Falling Man" was published in the papers, including The New York Times: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Falling_Man and caused outrage both at the AP photographer who took the photo and the newspapers who published it. I took some photos of the aftermath of an accident (a totally smashed Ford Mustang) in which a teenage girl was killed. The photo appeared in the newspaper, and I got hate mail for weeks afterwards (not from her family or friends but from people who didn't even know her). Even some of my friends sent me rude e-mails saying that I shouldn't have taken the photos and that seeing them upset them and ruined their day. In this week's subway incident, I find it disturbing that people are more angry with the photographer who snapped the subway photo (for whatever reason) than at the perpetrator who pushed the guy in front of the train!

People get angry about the wrong things these days. I saw some footage on The Daily Show of a guy threatening to stab someone for pushing him in a shop queue on black Friday ?
Apparemtly it all comes to an end on the 21st of Dec anyway, lol.

So, Who here would have taken the pictures?.. Without going into the whys and hows, just simply put, Would you have pressed the shutter?.. We like to think we would help, I know I do,circumstances sometimes dictate otherwise. Not right to be front page surely???

A circumstance like that I am pretty sure u would try and help if you could....... sometimes as a photojournalist you cannot help you know there is no way all you can do is photograph........ in areas of mass starvation and famine or natural disasters even hurricane Sandy the other day..... u as an idividual can do virtually nothing but must hope your photographs change the politics or bring pressure to rush aid to the needy when they are published ......... in circumstance like the man on the track...... if you can help surely you would..... but the photographer says there was no time........ there were a lot of people on the platform...... no other person has rushed to his aid probably there was no time........ he must have been pushed in just as the train was coming ...... it seems wrong to condemn the guy with the camera more than the other people on the platform ....... especially when one of those others murdered the man on the track by pushing him......... surely he is the only person deserving vilification.
