Well if you are new to Jezblog you may not be aware that New York Taxis are my thing........ I love em..... they have something I just keep coming back to. I love the way they are both representative of ordinary street life in the city but also kind of iconic of New York itself. Their bright color and speed...... their constant presence...... constant movement........ Hey.... you see those distinctive yellow vehicles on mass...... you know you are in New York City..... Capital city of the world......
I am interested in the city...... in the cabs........ in the drivers their lives and the whole culture of driving a cab for a living........ I have a few cab driving friends....... my old mate Noah shares my obsession with photographing cabs..... he is an artist..... and he is a true NYC cabbie.........check him out at www.nyctaxiphoto.com. I shot this image on the corner of 9th Av and 23rd St ....... before having a spectacular chicken pot pie at 2AM on Friday night (breaking with usual breakfast thing Marc)....... hey its got to be done..... The Chelsea Sq Diner......... you can have a fine breakfast 24 hours a day there anytime day or night and you can watch those yellow guys roll on by 24-7.

er...... hardly mate.....a free ride from an NYC cabbie not very likely mate even for a taxi connoissier like myself....... (apart from me old mate Noah of course see above)......hehehe ....... no NYC cabbies are not so much into the car67 moaning thing....... they spend most of their time speaking into their cellphone ear pieces normally in Somali or Pashtun they hardly ever assail you with their wisdom....... they are a very wide range of nationalities without them always having a brilliant grasp of english ..... collectively they are a good crowd..... and a very diverse bunch..... many really have had a hard life but they hardly ever tell you about it unless you enquire.....

Im always a bit vague on how I did things hehehe..... but it is not a secret Im just vague....... I shot this on a Canon 1ds mk2 which are the main cameras i use at the mo........ the camera is angled up then Im panning with the taxi..... its all hand held at probaby 1/8th of a second probably at f2.8 or f3.5 at about 400 ASA...... i might get round to putting this kind of technical info up info if i can get it to extract out of the file info directly....... otherwise im just too vague...... hehehe...... hope you find this helpful ..... goodluck with your shots.....
